Going between Ciudad del Este and Asunción – Paraguay

I've been going to Paraguay for years, and had always scheduled my meetings around the flights between Ciudad del Este and Asuncion.  After my recent discovery, this is very likely going to change. There is only one daily flight that takes you from Asuncion to Ciudad del Este at noon, and for a last minute ticket, you're looking at a $280 expense.  That's when I asked a client for a bus recommendation, and he suggested Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion. It's one of the higher end bus companies.  I took their "Convencional" buses and it was very convenient. Let's look at some of the benefits of taking a bus when airlines are not a possibility:
  • No lost luggage:  NSA gives you a tag for each piece of luggage you take with you, and someone from the company checks everyone's tag to make sure there's no theft.
  • You can bring food on board:  Food and water with no limitations.
  • Much cheaper: The price is around $20 per ticket, vs. the $280 expense
  • More flexibility:  They more than 5 daily buses doing that route, so you can better plan your day
Now, some of the downsides, of course, is that the ride takes five hours instead of one, and the road turbulence makes it trickier for men to use, but who doesn't enjoy a challenge? JPGBusPlaneAsu
